Ka honoa ahau e tōku whakapapa ki Kōtarani, ki Ataria, ki Airani me Ingarani hoki, engari i tupu ake au i waenganui i a Ōtakou i a Naarm. Kei te mihi atu ahau ki ngā tāngata whenua o ēnei rohe nāna ahau i whāngai, ko Kāi Tahu, ko ngā iwi Wurundjeri me Bunurong. Ka mihi atu ahau ki te maunga whakamarumaru, a Kawarau me ngā awa, a Mata-au, me Birrarung.

My whakapapa (ancestry) links me back to Scotland, Austria, Ireland and England, though I grew up between Ōtakou and Naarm/Melbourne. I acknowledge the first peoples of these lands which have nourished me, the people of the Kāi Tahu, Wurundjeri, and Bunurong nations. I acknowledge the mountain Kawarau, whose korowai (cloak) has sheltered me, and the Mata-au and Birrarung rivers.
