Ka mihi atu ahau ki te maunga whakamarumaru, Kawarau me ngā awa, ko Matau, ko Birrarung.

My whakapapa (ancestry) links me back to Scotland, Austria, and Ireland, though I grew up between Ōtakou and Naarm/Melbourne. I acknowledge the first peoples of these lands which have nourished me, the people of the Kāi Tahu, Wurundjeri, and Bunurong nations. I acknowledge the mountain Kawarau, whose korowai (cloak) has sheltered me, and the Matau and Birrarung rivers.
